What is "Skymark Decisive Battle"?
"Skymark Decisive Battle" is a battle-style card tabletop model game that can be played by two to four players. When the number of players is three or four, they will be divided into two teams. Depending on the map played and the number of players, each player will control 2 to 4 heroes.
game goals
As long as a player destroys the enemy's core node (the grid marked with this symbol) or completes one or more conditions on the victory card, the player immediately wins the game.
Game flow
The game continues until one player wins the game or until 5 turns have passed. Each turn contains the following 4 phases: [Invader Phase] If there are any players controlling the invaders, this huge element will be activated (this phase is skipped during the first round of the game).
[Hero Phase] Players take turns to activate a hero until all heroes have been activated. Activate a hero to perform 3 different actions from 5 optional actions: Movement, Attack, Guerrilla, Leadership and Dedication.
Ability cards represent abilities that the hero uses during activation, or even as a reaction when an enemy moves. The subordinates will form a team with control markers, which are the focus of the battle. They will assist the heroes in destroying the enemy's defense towers and core nodes during the subordinate phase.
[Subordinate Stage] Players determine who can control the line of troops and the dome (the winner) by calculating the number of heroes and subordinates. In the line of troops, the winner will advance towards the enemy, which may damage the enemy's defense towers and core nodes. Within the dome, the winner will gain temporary control over the intruders lurking there.
[Reset Phase] Players replenish abilities, which includes drawing new ability cards, resurrecting defeated heroes, and restoring the hero's spiritual power (spiritual power is the resource required to play ability cards). On the next page you can set up your first game and become more familiar with the game accessories of Skymark Showdown.
Skytear is a competitive card-driven miniatures game inspired by MOBA video games (like League of Legends) featuring 28 heroes from an original fantasy universe.
Using a draft system that supplements regular deckbuilding, players pick heroes from four factions in order to flexibly respond to their opponent's selections. Then, using these heroes, players compete to take control of the lanes and lead the minions there to assault the enemy towers, or enter the dome to take control of the outsider there. In doing so, they will win one of the three victory conditions selected at the start of the game, allowing for potential bluffing or feints by switching objective.
Skytear is diceless, instead revolving around modifiers printed on every power cards. This duality of effect means deckbuilding is a nuanced issue: cards that are most beneficial when played (and likely will) come with a negative modifier, reducing the effectiveness of most attacks. At the same time, drafting a particular hero provides you with their associated cards, meaning flexibility can be integrated into your hero selections.
With two maps, 28 heroes, and over 65 power cards at launch, Skytear is an extremely replayable tactical experience.
